Final-year academic project
MoCap Suit
A wearable motion-capture system with live 3D skeletal visualization, calibration, and recording/playback.
Overview
A final-year software engineering project connecting wearable sensor hardware to a real-time browser interface. The suit uses ESP32-S3 controllers and eight BNO055 IMU sensors to capture motion.
Implementation
Developed MicroPython firmware and a Node.js diagnostic tool, with a SvelteKit and Three.js interface for 3D visualization. UDP carries sensor data, while TCP handles command and control communication.
Delivered functionality
- Live quaternion-based skeletal visualization
- Sensor calibration and recording/playback
- Fault recovery and I2C recovery logic
- Serial diagnostics and networking troubleshooting
